It was a chilly November day when we headed northeast to the hamlet of Whitevale in Pickering. We were going to hike along the Seaton trail beside West Duffins Creek. Whitevale is just south of Hwy 7 and just west of the York-Dufferin Line. Here is a link to photos of Whitevale and below them a map of the area: http://www.whitevale.ca/village.html Here is parking information and trail maps: http://www.whitevale.ca/seatontrail.html
The trail and scenery were similar to the Rouge Valley.... quiet, varied and interesting, beside water, fairly easy trekking. We walked both north and south of Whitevale, with a stop at the little cafe in between. The cafe is tiny, but you can get a warm drink and a muffin or bagel, nice on a chilly day!
Duffins Creek is popular with fishermen from late April to mid November, so go outside of that time for a more solitary hiking experience.
It was a very cold day so we didn't linger (and didn't take many photos!!) but filled a few very nice hours on the Seaton trail.
Check out the link above for more photos of the area.
